Birthdays
We will be celebrating your child's special day in class in a variety of ways. Please let me know at least two days in advance if you plan on bringing a treat to celebrate your child's birthday.
Book Orders
Once a month, a book order form will come home from Scholastic. This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively while helping our class. For more information, please visit the Scholastic Book Club section of this website.
Breakfast
It is true, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Please make sure that your student has had a nutritious, filling breakfast so they are able to focus better in class.

Challenges
I will be challenging your child in and out of the classroom. If your child, does not feel challenged or is struggling, please contact me so we can adjust accordingly.
Communication
Communication is an essential ingredient to a successful relationship. This website is my main form of communication and is frequently updated. Please check it at least once a week.

Family Involvement
Families are encouraged to participate in student learning in a variety of ways throughout the year. Check out the special projects section of this website for more information.
Field Trips
Our class will be going on field trips this year! We are striving for one field trip per quarter. Our calendar section will be updated as soon as this information becomes available.
Fundraisers
Your child will be asked to participate in fundraisers throughout the year. The funds will help pay for our field trips and other items needed at school. Thank you for your support with these events.

Homework
Your child will have homework Monday through Thursday plus a monthly reading and book project. For more information, please visit the homework section of this website.

Money
When sending money to school, please put it in an envelope with your child's name, teacher's name, and reason.
Mystery Readers
The children look forward to finding out who our reader will be. We hope it will be you! For more information, please visit the Mystery Reader section of this website.

Schoology
During the first few weeks of school, I will help your child set up an account in class for use throughout the year. This site is similar in formatting to Facebook and will be used to further classroom discussions, post assignments, download assignments, and request assistance on homework. This site is secured so that only members of our classroom have access.
Snacks
Students may bring healthy snacks to munch on during class as long as it is not disruptive to other students.

Tardiness
Students should be at school by 8:20. Arriving after this time causes students to lose valuable instruction time and disrupts fellow classmates.
Technology
Students will explore technology in a variety of ways in our classroom. Please discuss and enforce our internet safety rules at home.
Toys
Students are discouraged from bring toys to school. These often become lost and cause distractions in the classroom. I am not responsible for any items brought to class.

Visitors
All school visitors are required to sign in at the office and pick up a badge for the safety of all students. If you're a Mystery Reader, please have the secretary call our classroom to let us know. This will allow me time to prepare the class for your grand entry.
Volunteers
Volunteers play a vital role in our classroom. Your help and time is greatly appreciated! Please see the volunteer section of this website for ways you can help.

Water Bottles
Students are able to bring a labeled water bottle for use in the classroom. If it is 90 or above, please make sure your student has one!
Weather
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather as they will be outside during lunch and recess.
